A catch is a word, sign, or slogan that is designed to capture the attention and stimulate the interest of your audience. As Christian mentioned in his story, often that involves doing something unexpected.

How to build a strong catch

Being able to capture your audience from the moment they log in is key to creating impact in your virtual sales meeting. There are three steps that we recommend following to build a strong catch:

Know your audience: A strong catch will only succeed in capturing your audience's attention if it is relevant to them and resonates with them. This means you have to understand and know your audience to help you build a strong catch. This includes knowing their profiles, pain points, aspirations, and targets.

Do the unexpected: A strong catch challenges your customer's thinking, brings up new or different perspectives, or adds new knowledge or value to the conversation. Consider what your audience might not expect to hear and/or see in your presentation.

Keep the end in mind: Make it easy for your customer to understand and remember your points by creating a “closed loop” in their mind. This means that you connect your catch and the follow-up to what you want to achieve in the meeting, the content you are sharing during the meeting, and the next steps you want to take with your customer.
